Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones confirmed for Men in Black 3D

The director of the Men in Black series, Barry Sonnefeld, has confirmed that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be in Men in Black 3D. Sonnefeld did not discuss plot details, yet rumors have flown around Hollywood which say that the plot will involve a major time jump. Other rumors say that Sacha Baron Cohen and Jermaine Clement will be in the movie as well.

It really isn't even necessary to criticize this piece of news. Nobody needs threequels and especially not 3D. But that won't stop anybody from seeing Men in Black 3D. Though the series does not have a steady fan base the way other series do, Men in Black certainly is still a box office magnet. 3D can only help it.

Robert Downey Jr. to play Oz the Great and Powerful?

Robert Downey Jr. is now the "front runner" to play the Wizard in Oz the Great and Powerful, according the Los Angeles Times. Sam Mendes (American Beauty) and Adam Shankman (Bedtime Stories) are the front runners for the job of director. Oz the Great and Powerful, originally called Brick, is written by Mitchell Kapner. The plot proposes a hypothetical situation in which the Wizard of Oz is transported back to Kansas with Dorothy. The movie will also focus on how the Wizard rose to power in Oz. This movie does sound intriguing. If Robert Downey Jr. plays the Wizard and Sam Mendes directs, this movie could potentially be amazing! However, if Adam Shankman directs, who knows what will happen.

Project X is revealed

Project X, the mysterious project created by Todd Phillips, the director of The Hangover, has now been revealed. First Showing got their hands on the first plot details. The film is apparently a cinema-verite style look at a party. The viewer will experience something similar to the party scene in Cloverfield in which a guest documents the evening. The film will be in 3-D and is being shot for $12 million. There is a chance that Project X will be shot in 3-D, yet Todd Phillips told First Showing that "with a $15 million budget, I don't think this is the case." Is anyone tired of 3-D yet? Cinema-verite has been a cliche for years and with Paranormal Activity, it has gotten even more popular. But cinema-verite is not nearly as annoying as 3-D. Who cares if a comedy about a party is shot in 3-D? That has nothing to do with the plot! Hollywood, give our eyes and wallets a break and shoot movies in 2-D again! It worked for the first 100 or so years of filmmaking.

The Sex and the City 2 craze has officially started

Sex and the City 2 tickets are already selling like crazy, six weeks before it is going to be released. There are many huge summer movies that sell a lot of advance tickets, such as The Dark Knight and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but these movies are often geared towards men and are heavily hyped. Oddly enough, Sex and the City 2 sold 20% of all tickets sold on Fandango on the first day that they were available. Is Sex and the City 2 going to be the next big hit? With so few movies this major geared towards women, it undoubtedly will be.
